Booster Program FAQs

• What is the MGCB Boosters Program?

  The Boosters Program is a new statewide responsible gaming outreach effort designed to support school-affiliated booster organizations. It provides education, awareness materials, downloadable resources, and advertising support to help protect youth from the risks of underage gambling and sports betting.

• Does this replace the Millionaire Party Program?

  No. The Millionaire Party Program remains fully active and unchanged. The Boosters Program is an educational initiative, not a gaming program.

• Why focus on youth gambling risks?

  A recent University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital poll found that:

  • 1 in 6 parents worry their teen may be developing a gambling problem
  • Teens are increasingly exposed to sports betting promotions, online gaming, and gambling-style apps
  • Earlier exposure increases the risk of developing problem behaviors

  This initiative helps parents and schools address these concerns proactively.

• Why involve booster clubs?

  Booster clubs:

  • Are trusted community partners
  • Communicate directly with parents, athletes, performers, and students
  • Play a role in environments where sports enthusiasm and competition are strong
  • Are already familiar with MGCB through the Millionaire Party Program

  Including them helps ensure responsible gaming information reaches families early and effectively.

• What resources are available to booster clubs?

  Participating organizations will receive:

  • Up to $4,000 in funding if qualified
  • Downloadable posters, flyers, and awareness materials
  • Social media graphics and digital assets
  • Parent and coach talking guides
  • Responsible gaming messaging templates
  • Educational links and youth-specific guidance
  • Optional MGCB advertising support (digital, print, audio as available)
• Is participation required for booster clubs hosting Millionaire Parties?

  No. This is a voluntary, educational resource. However, existing Millionaire Party host schools and booster clubs will automatically be included in outreach lists.

• Is training required?

  No training is required, but MGCB provides optional responsible gaming training materials for organizations that want them.

• Who can participate?

  School-affiliated booster clubs supporting:

  • Athletics
  • Band, choir, and performing arts
  • Robotics and STEM
  • Academic teams
  • PTO/PTA groups
  • Student activity organizations
• Where can booster clubs access resources?

  All resources for booster clubs are accessible through the Booster Club program on DontRegretTheBet.org. Eligible organizations will receive access to all resources once their application has been submitted and approved.
